HW: Four day weekend!
~Rest up and see you Tuesday~

My sixth period class came into the room and figured out where they sat with the new configuration. The dongle for the computer wasn't working, so Stephanie had to read the blog. Her voice was quiet, but if you really listened, you could hear her.

Then, students took out their Outsiders books, notes and something to write with and used the rest of the period to work on the quiz.

Some people made the quiz way harder than it was, but everyone worked until the end of the period. Class went fast because it was a minimum day. Everyone packed up and left for the long weekend. YAY!!!

First, Carlos started to read his blog. Then, he had to choose someone I was hoping that he was not going to choose me, but Chris told him to choose me. Ms. Nakada told us to take out our English note book so we can take some notes on The Outsiders. Ms. Nakada also told us to find a quote then we were making notes on chapters 1-5. Finally, the bell rang and it was time to go home.

The Outsiders

HW: RJ 3.1 The Outsiders p. 85-99

Sixth Period started and the first thing that happened was that Chaysen read his blog to everyone. Then, after Ms. Nakada finished talking to everyone she asked who will do the blog and out of everyone Chaysen could have chosen, he decided that he was going to choose me. Then, Ms. Nakada told everyone to write down the quote of the week and also the question of the week.

Next, Isaac told me I forgot to write the agenda and I didn't know how to underline the agenda so I could make it look more fancy, I guess. Right now, I didn't know what to talk about 'cause, so I just waited for Ms. Nakada to tell us about what we were going to do today. She was talking about the book we read called The Outsiders. Now, she was telling us about the plot and asking us about the book and what was going on and was telling us we have to write about the characters, setting, and the conflict.

Also, almost half of the class time passed and all I wrote was this and I didn't know what else to write but I guess that I must keep writing. Now she was telling us that we have to write about the climax of chapter five but I think that I am on like on chapter six or seven. I would write it in this blog about the chapter but I don't want to give any spoilers but I think that almost like half the class is almost done with the book. I don't think I am going to finish in time because I don't know what to write but at least I don't have to do HW for Ms. Nakada's class because I already wrote about the chapters that I finished reading at home.

As the bell was about to ring I
finished writing about this blog
and I am about to leave bye.

Class Activities:

Sixth period started as it normally does, semi-obstreperously, Ms. Nakada waited for the class to settle down and then began to speak. She gave the whole class admonition on how to study for the test in Mr. Bangert's class on Monday. Next, she called on Adrian to rehearse his class blog; he did an adequate job on reading the blog. There were lots of spelling mistakes but no grammatical errors. After that he was given the choice to pick another student to write the blog, and Adrian decided to pick Chaysen. Ms. Nakada told everyone to pull out their homework; not many children completed their homework, so in response Ms. Nakada made everyone do their homework and complete STAR test. The class room was extremely tranquil as they worked. The class began to become extremely rowdy as the clock came closer to three o'clock. The bell then rang and that marked the end of the school day for Friday, August 26th.

To start the period off we copied the agenda on the board. We had to get out our reading journals and read it to the person next to us.

Then, Erin and David were chosen to read their summaries. Then, Mike had to sit outside because he was laughing.

After that, Ms. Nakada was helping people with their AR and Star test passwords. Michael came back like ten minutes later. We started to write in our English notebook. The internet guy at our school came in and when he left Michael said he reminds him of a football player. We started talking about reading for entertainment and close reading. Michael wasn't writing notes because he and Anthony were messing around and discussing racial stereotypes like tacos and fried chicken. It's time to go now. Bye.

We started off by listening to Anthony's blog. He was shy but he got to finish and decided to pick me because Michael told him to which was sad because I'm not really a person to talk in front of the class when it comes to these kind of things. Ms. Nakada asked us if we were ready to take AR, some students were and went to the back of the class and took the test. She told the class to read The Outsiders while she checked the homework to see if we wrote our summary in our reading journal. After she was done we talked about what happened in chapter 4. I guess that was all what we did.

Ok, so the first thing we did in class was talk about Bailei's blog. I don't know if I'm allowed to say my opinion on Bailei's blog so I'm not going to say anything because SHE'LL find me.

Then, we started talking about "What makes you unique" so someone said, "Trash." I wonder who said that?

Next, we have to copy what Ms. Nakada wrote, but someone didn't copy. (You guys already know who, so I don't have to write his name.)

Then, we started reading THE OUTSIDERS and so far it's good. I like it.

While we were reading, Ms. Nakada gave us each two late passes. OK, I have to go, PEACE.

Enjoy your weekend !

So, sixth period started off pretty regular until Erin made her first blog, it was great but after everyone applauded Erin's work she decided to choose the main person she wasn't making any eye contact with. Sadly that person was me and now I'm sitting here stressing over this blog instead of joining my class while everyone is sharing their summaries about The Outsiders. The Outsiders has been a good book by far, there's so much going on each page that we can't stop talking about it. Ponyboy's life is filled with chaos, a little too much to keep up with. I can't forget the summer assignment we're collecting today, some student created story maps, social media pages and models of a book of their choice. I ran out of ideas and like yeah.

*SUMMER ASSIGNMENTS & BOOK PROJECT DUE TOMORROW!*

So today was the first day that one of the students were able to write the blog. (Which was really fun for me) So we talked about The Outsiders and we started to read the book at page five and then we were really just talking about Ponyboy.

This is who we just got the pleasure of meeting and he is really an interesting boy. It was really sad to hear that his parents died  and that he has to live with his brothers and now he feels like Sodapop is the only one who loves him but it is just called "Tough Love".

We read a little bit of chapter 2 and made sure we knew what was for homework tonight.

* summer assignments and book projects due Friday!

It was a busy second day in our sixth period class.

Everyone came into class and people were absent. I forgot to tell this class about the points.

Michael wants to be in the blog.

We named our blog (after quite a bit of debate) and here it is.

Students wrote down the agenda and then took out last night's homework. Students shared their letters with a classmate and we talked about how when providing feedback you should give 3 positives for every 1 critique. I collected all letters and course outlines.

We talked about the summer assignments and the book projects. You can download forms from Ms. Nakada's webpage.

After that I passed out copies of The Outsiders and recorded book numbers. We read the first few pages and then set up our reading journals.

The cover should say:

Your Name's Reading Journal

The first page should say:

Your First Name's Reading Journal

Title                    Author            date started/date completed          pages read
The Outsiders      SE Hinton      8/17/16

The next page should have:

RJ 1.1 The Outsiders p. 1-18

Tonight for homework students are to write a summary of the first chapter.

After that, Ms. Nakada dismissed and another school day is over!

Isn't Simone Biles amazing! We discussed her amazingness in class but you can read more here.
